Biotechnology and Innovation

Biotechnology and pharmaceutical innovation is developing at an accelerated pace globally and it can all get very confusing. There are many articles published, journals dedicated and papers written about what is happening today in these fields. Mark Ahn, PhD has published over 50 articles and books on innovation and biotechnology and has various websites. He has held various executive roles in major pharmaceutical and biotech companies such as Bristol-Myers Squibb and Hana Biosciences. Mark J. Ahn is currently an adjunct professor at Portland State University and Carnegie Mellon. You can discover more about him at http://connect.oregonlive.com/user/MarkAhn/index.html and other websites.

Mark Ahn also has a consulting company that helps large biotechnical companies develop effective strategies for business growth and capital advisory. It is called Pukana Partners. Among his publications are a book called Building the Case for Biotechnology and several articles and papers on biotechnical innovations. One such article looks at the innovations with nanotechnology being developed at Google X, which have implications for cancer detection and other medical issues and treatments.

This article indicates that such an innovation would allow a person to swallow a pill that could then detect medical issues at the cellular level and provide feedback via a wrist monitor. Patients could be monitored more closely and treatment could begin much sooner than it begins at this point in time. Another example of an article is one on start up incubators moving into Biotechnological applications. This article outlines the start up process that is based on the concept that any business that can find a product-to-market fit can launch a start up company with little time and a small investment to get established. It also indicates that the down side to this concept may be getting proper testing completed and proper approval from State and Federal Agencies that govern pharmaceuticals.

Papers include topics such as the role of management in creating profits in the Chinese pharmaceutical market and using Cultural Intelligence as a way to improve performance within an organization. There is also information on his Portland, Oregon website that details the effect that city has on green technology as a whole. Portland is a leader in environmentally friendly construction practices and has developed innovations in clean energy and responsible resource allocation. There are opportunities to contact mark ahn page on each of his websites for further information regarding any of his articles, papers and blog posts.
